Playing GuidelinesOnce you have a character, you'll need to explore the guidelines of the RPG. I'm pretty lenient about these, but there are some rules, that, if broken, can get you deleted from the RPG What should my writing contain? Generally, a single chapter should be about 3-5 KB long. I know most of you are gawking at this, but that's only about 1-2 pages of typing. Just load up MS-Word (or whatever word processor you favor), bring your ideas to mind and start typing! Please write in a story format. There's not much that annoys me more than when people use little asterisks (*) to denote their actions. If you do this in your submissions, they will be sent back, with a message saying roughly, "Get these stinking asterisks out of here and write in paragraph format!" How often should I post? Generally, you should try and post at least once a month. This is because of the rather long chapters I'm expecting. This also gives you time to edit your posts, make sure they are well-written. I don't consider myself to be a harsh editor, but really crappy posts will be returned. If there are some minor grammatical or spelling errors, I'll fix those myself before putting the chapter up on the site. What if I don't post in a while? If you know you're not going to be posting for a while, let me know. If several months pass without posting, you'll receive a warning. If you fail to post within about a month following the delivery of the warning, you run the risk of having your character deleted from the RPG. If your character is deleted, you'll have to re-apply before being able to play again. If you're playing a character from some series, such as Lina Inverse from The Slayers, you may lose rights to that character to another player. The only exceptions to this are as follows: 1.) You have sent me an e-mail explaining that you will be unavailable for a while. In this case, please send a similar e-mail to any players you are collaborating with so they can compensate for your character's absence. Also, try to gracefully have your character make a temporary exit from the scene so that other players whose characters are involved with yours can continue unfettered. 2.) You are waiting on another character's submission. I'll try and put the submissions on the site the day I receive them, but, as I mentioned before, I'm only human. There will be days when I can't check my e-mail or will be unable to work on the site. Bear with me. To prevent this to a degree, rather than expecting me to get your submissions up immediately, send a copy of your chapter to other players involved, therefore allowing them the ability to respond. This will help keep things going a bit more smoothly. What are events?
Occasionally, I will send out e-mails to players regarding an event. This is something involving the region, layer, or sometimes the entire world that a character is in. When an event occurs, all players that receive information about the event, their characters should react accordingly. These events are made to add some plot twists and enable more interaction between players. |
