Tarra

Writer: Bunny
E-mail: [email protected]

Appearence: Tarra's height is about 5'6, with a slim build.  Her hair is dark brown with chestnut highlights and flows down her back, parting at her forehead. Her hair falls down perfectly straight, leaving no room for bangs until it reaches her waist.  Though her hair can be frustrating, she usually ties it back at its half way mark in a very loose pony tail.  Her eyes are a light jade green, giving off the eerie effect when she's looking at you she's seeing more then just you.  The only clothing she possesses is a silvery purple dress, loose fitting and simple with sleeves that open up rather loosely to an open-mouthed end with a lose silver chained belt to which she ties her pouch.  To Tarra, however, the dress holds its own silver mist, which is quite rare, considering there are very few things she's ever seen non living that had its own light.  Other then that she has two simple beaded sandals that are rather worn.

Equipment: Tarra, herself, has few possessions and those she does have, she carries around in a small pouch.  This pouch has a small letter written on it.  To a normal eye nothing seems unusual, but to her it has little blue lighted snake like squiggles that swarm around it spelling out messages.  The pouch also contains a few pebbles she thinks are pretty. She wears a small silver pin in the hem of her dress.  Around her neck, bound with a silver slim wire, and barely visible is a small clear glass ring.

Abilities:

Tarra's ability is innate.  She was born with the gift to see any living things aura or, to her, their "light."  Each person is assigned a different blend. The lights can be of any color, shade, and textrue.  They can flow around a person like water, form a bubble around them, be a light mist that clings to the person, or dance in a flame like pattern, to name a few examples.  Tarra sees her own aura as a light pink glow that swirls slowly around her body inter acting with the silver mist from her dress.  When Tarra is excited or angry, her aura turns to a flame base that dances around her protectively.  Tarra is able to manipulate these auras, though she does not understand precisely how she does it.  She can either heal or harm someone, control a person, or track someone down by following the auras.  Even if she isn't paying attention to what she's doing she can draw upon other people's lights and use them to strengthen her own or theirs if the need is great enough.

Personality:  She has very few social skills because she has had very little interaction with other people. She takes things very literally, though she is honest and truthful about most things. She keeps to herself and rarely ever mentions anything about lights to anyone since they seem to think she's insane when she talks about them.

History:

Tarra was born rather prematurely because of an accident with her mother who died a few years after her birth.  Originally the doctor had said she was blind because of the unusual eye color and her slow responses to stimuli.  As she got older, she mentioned lights a lot and claimed she saw them making people steer away from her, basically shunning her even if she was able to heal small cuts or scrapes.  Her father told her it was fear they had of unknown.  When Tarra watched people closley she saw the fear in their lights.  She would step near someone and there light would tend to wrap itself around the person as if reflecting there fear of not wanting to get close

At one point there was a fire, a great one that engulfed a whole hose leaving a small girl, an neighbor of hers that she was "not allowed" to talk to, trapped in inside.  Tarra stared at the flames tilting her head and held out her hand, the glow around her hand brightening until it started to imitate that of the flame, to embrace it and dance with it.  Everyone had been to busy trying to bring water to splash on the house that they didn't see her walk in through the fire untouched.  For a few moments she was amazed and grinned to herself, giggling happily with new energy that flowed through her as the flames reached out to her, their light filling her with a renewed strength.  She herd the cries, terrified and screaming and looked down to see her neighbor, who was to her a pale green light. She grinned her eyes bright and held her hand to the girl whose screams rebounded in screams of terror.  Tarra paused and called to the girl who didn't seem to hear her.  There was no time for this so Tarra simply grabbed the girls hand and dragged her after.

When they got out of the house the girl was still screaming and as Tarra turned to hear the villagers cries of joy for what she had done, she saw only fear and anger.  They now turned there attention to her and through the buckets at her.  Tarra cried out in pain as the water hissed against her skin.  She looked up into a window of the next house and saw herself standing there, but not her real self, not the pink glow she was used to but a rather fleshy form with straggly brown hair and dull green eyes.  She blinked her jaw gaping and in a minute the image was replaced by a fire child, one born of the flame.  The child stared back at her and as she tilted her head to regard it, the creature imitated.  As another splash of water hit her and another villager screamed she howled in pain watching the figure do the same.  It hit her then, she was that monster.  How was it possible, her glow had turned to flame had fed off the fire and now it had taken her, she let go of the girl and curled in on herself.  This wasn't supposed to happen, all she had wanted to do was save the girl and as she covered her hands over her head she forgot herself for a moment, forgot about the fire, forgetting about how it danced with her.

There were gasps all around her as she looked up from her position, her clothing nothing but burnt shreds and scraps.  Next to her lay her neighbor, the girl she had dragged after her, fainted on the floor, her arm almost severed from a flesh gripping burn mark that branded into her skin  so that the boned showed.  Everyone was screaming around her but her eyes were blurring, the girls light, a pale green almost faded as a black death crept upon it infecting it, tainting it.  Tarra stood and everyone else disappeared. Her mind was spinning, lights of all kind swam to her, in rainbows repeatedly one after the other and she held her hand out over the girl and closed her eyes not trusting them.  The colors swarmed her vision even with her eyes tightly shut and she held her hand over the dulling green form and sent them to it, helping them to turn to a flame like appearance, using like the flame, a burning that chased away the darkness, the death.  She stood for a moment all sound gone everything quiet and reopened her eyes to see all the villagers forms on the ground, each ones color a little diminished.  The green lighted girl was fine now though, but nothing else was.  Tarra stumbled her way to her house and grabbed the ring that belonged to her mother and stumbled into the bright forest, lit with auras of all kinds.  She didn't care where she was going but it didn't matter, she couldn't stay now.
