Region of Fire
Desert. When reaching the Region of Fire, that's all you
can see is desert stretching for miles upon miles. Very little life exists
in the arid, hot climes of the burning sands in this Region.
The River of Fire
Running through the center of this Region, originating in the
Gateway Mountains, is the River of Fire. The river is extremely hot and
fast-moving. However, this river provides a small strip of life in an
otherwise barren landscape. A dense jungle stretches for about a mile on
each side of the river as it winds its way through the desert. Several
hundred miles into the Region, the river culminates in the Crystal Lake, a
placid, considerably cooler body of water filled with beautiful plant life.
The Takai Empire
On the Airward side of the River of Fire is the Takai Empire.
The Takai are a fierce warrior people who believe, much to the chagrin of the
Qu'ral, the entire Region of Fire belongs to them. So far, the Takai have
been unsuccessful in conquering the Region, mainly due to the interference by
the Djinn who live in the Crystal Lake area. The Takai Empire is ruled by
Emperor Ouji, a man filled with warrior's spirit who takes no mercy upon his
enemies. Takai's capital city is named Hikari, the City of Light, due to a
belief held by the Takai that they are the Light that will cleanse the Region of
Fire from the darkness.
The Qu'ral Sultanate
Earthward of the River is the Qu'ral Sultanate. The Qu'ral
people are artisans, merchants, sages, and wizards. Knowledge and art
holds a very high place in Qu'ral society. Most noted among the Qu'ral
artisans are the glass sculptors, whose works can be seen throughout all three
layers of Ileun. The Qu'ral have little interest in warfare, therefore
have a small foot-soldier army. However, due to the constant threat from
the Takai, the Qu'ral rely on their mages to hold back their enemies.
Since the Takai have little use for magic, the Qu'ral sorcerers have little
trouble keeping the invaders at bay. The Qu'ral Sultanate is ruled by
Farid Qu'ral, who resides in the capital, Aughdah.
