Region of Earth

Imagine a land of lush, fertile forests and grasslands.  All the plants grow a vibrant green color.  Running through the middle of this landscape is a river, clouded with silts and nutrients providing life for the surrounding areas.  This is the Region of Earth. 

The Region of Earth is rich in both agriculture and metals.  Most of the people in this Region are farmers or miners.  The ground here is very rich in nutrients, enabling plants to thrive here better than in any other Region.  Most farms in the Region of Earth are very large, spanning several square miles.  The fruits, vegetables, and grains here are generally the best tasting out of all Ileun.  Many high-class restaurants have been set up in this Region, providing access for travelers to sample the food at a lower price in its point of origin.

This Region is also home to many mining communities.  Deep into the Region, the mountains are rich in ores, minerals, and metals, precious and non-precious.  Many people, particularly dwarves, see the Region of Earth as a place to make good money.  The metals found here are of the best quality.  Some of the finest armor and weapons come from the mining communities in this region, so, if you're looking for a place to get new equipment, this is the place to see.

Despite this paradise-like view, the Region of Earth is not all it seems.  The Region has very high seismic activities.  Earthquakes are not uncommon here, even of high intensity.  Mining in some areas is very dangerous, but, with the proper magical assistance, the miners can protect themselves against lack of air, eruption of poisonous gases, rock slides, cave-ins, and other such disasters. Toward the Region of Fire, most of the mountains are active volcanoes.  This area of the Region has very little civilization because of the high risk from lava flows, earthquakes, and pyroclastic storms.  Creatures do live here, however most that do are ones that can stand the intense heat and smoke, such as salamanders.

Waterward in the Region of Earth, the plains give way to an incredibly dense jungle.  Much of the ground here is swampy because of the proximity to the Region of Water.  The jungle and swamp provides excellent ground for several tribes of lizard men.  Most of the tribes are hostile to outsiders, so "visiting" the area is generally not a good idea.  The closer to the Region of Water the tribe is located, the more amphibious the lizard men are.  Many hide underwater until prey comes by, then ambush the hapless victim.
